Dr Niklas Traub is Managing Partner of IID Partners, an investment boutique with interests in biotech, oil exploration, software, semiconductors, media, music, digital content and various other things.
He is one of the co-founders of TEDxBermuda and advises various Bermudian organizations involved with bringing business to the island, increasing power independence and improving the economy. Niklas was a co-founder of Foundation Capital Strategies, a highly successful quantitative equity hedge fund based out of Bermuda.
The founders spun off from Ross Capital Markets, at the time one of the largest hedgefunds in the world. Prior to moving to a semi-tropical island, Niklas worked in the City of London as well as several UK based tech start ups. He was one of the founding hires at European Silicon Structures, an early pioneer in custom silicon chip manufacturing and one of the largest European startups of the era. He also found time to teach for several months in Beijing just as it was first opening up to Westerners. Niklas has a Bachelors degree from the California Institute of Technology in Engineering and Applied Science with an emphasis on Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Following his graduation, he was one of the first wave of hires at Microsoft, then a unknown software company on one floor of a bank building in Bellevue. He left to pursue a PhD in mathematical Computer Science at the University of Edinburgh.
